Dan Pallotta will speak during the conference’s opening session October 14, 2015. Pallotta is the inventor of the multi-day charitable event industry and has raised millions of dollars for charities with his company, Pallotta TeamWorks. He is the author of Uncharitable: How Restraints on Nonprofits Undermine Their Potential and Charity Case: How the Nonprofit Community Can Stand Up for Itself and Really Change the World. Pallotta’s TED Talk, which focuses on alternative ways to view nonprofits, has been viewed more than 3.5 million times.
Craig Boykin will be the student luncheon keynote speaker on October 15, 2015. Boykin came from a difficult childhood. He grew up with low-level literacy skills and eventually dropped out of high school. After being incarcerated, Boykin decided to improve his situation and earn his GED. He went on to obtain both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, and is now working toward a Ph.D. in adult education. Boykin has become a celebrated speaker on education and motivates others to live up to greatness.
Azar Nafisi will be the conference banquet speaker on October 16, 2015. She is the author of the national bestseller Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books, and is the director of Cultural Conversations at the Foreign Policy Institute of Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, in Washington, D.C. Nafisi has also taught classes in her native Iran. Her latest book, The Republic of Imagination, is a tribute to the importance of fiction in a democratic society.
