About this Course
Prepare learners for future success in Integrated Education and Training (IET).
The US workforce faces a skills gap for jobs needing more than a high school diploma but less than a bachelor’s degree. Integrated Education and Training (IET) has emerged as a solution, however, IET programs often require advanced reading levels, excluding learners who struggle academically.
Join us as we explore best practices to support these individuals and ensure their success in IET programs. In this course you will:
Explore the core elements of Workplace Skills Instruction. Integrating Workplace Skills Instruction in your adult education program may include:
· Career awareness
· Self awareness
· Career Exploration
· Career planning
· Market Exploration
· Training and education
Identify key literacy skills and supporting activities. Pre-IET adult learners use specific skills to explore potential careers and opportunities. Skills include reading comprehension, research, communication, numeracy, and digital skills.
Learn about the Career Power book series. Designed for learners at NRS level 3 (about a 4th grade level), the Career Power book series presents academic learning in the context of workforce skills to help learners bridge to career readiness courses.
Download valuable instructional resources.
Reflect on your organization’s approach to each of the six core elements. For example, what challenges have emerged when trying to connect students with local employers and identify suitable career paths? and what strategies can be implemented to address these challenges more effectively?
This course is ideal for:
· Administrators, staff, tutors, and teachers.
