Supreme Court puts census citizenship question on hold

The Supreme Court has issued its ruling in the Department of Commerce v. New York case. See the release below from our colleagues at the Constitutional Accountability Center. A news article from the Washington Post is available at https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/courts_law/supreme-court-puts-census-citizenship-question-on-hold/2019/06/27/6b2a49cc-93cb-11e9-b570-6416efdc0803_story.html?utm_term=.c6db291867b2

This decision does not put all aspects of the citizenship question to rest, but it is a huge step in the right direction. The Supreme Court on Thursday put on hold the Trump administration’s plan to add a citizenship question to the 2020 Census form sent to every household, saying it had provided a “contrived” reason for wanting the information.
