As I reflect on Women’s History Month, I think about Ruth Colvin and all the history she’s lived and change she’s contributed to.
Over the past year I’ve seen many positive signs that the adult literacy field is on the cusp of something great. Something that will shift the trajectory for low-literate adults, communities, and the country as a whole. That something is equity through improved literacy.
Ten years ago, Dollar General Literacy Foundation gave ProLiteracy the funding to explore how we could reach people with low literacy who weren’t going to seek out help from their local literacy program because they were already dealing with more pressing issues.
